The lighthouse Cup podium 2023: from left Mario Massaglia, Stefano Peroni and Piero Lottini
The Florentine wins the race and the 5th grouping of the 8th round of the Italian Uphill Speed Championship for Historic Cars. On the podium the best of the 4th Group: Massaglia, new champion followed by Lottini on the Osellas. Nice weather and a lot of people, the ideal setting for a race that also saw social moments
Stefano Peroni on a Martini Mk32 BMW won the 6th Coppa Faro in Pesaro. The Florentine from Bologna Squadra Corse crowned a complex weekend that started tiringly with success in the 5th group and progressively signed the best time on both climbs, sui 3,8 Km of the Strada Panoramica San Bartolo in 2'06"54 and 2'04"00. A non-optimal set up had prevented the 5th Group Italian Champion from aiming for the best time even in qualifying, after the reconnaissance, things changed and precise work by the team allowed us to reach the top of the race and the group tricolor.
On the podium in the Marche region of the eighth and penultimate round of the Italian Uphill Speed Championship for Historic Cars, they went up the Piedmontese Mario Massaglia and the Pisan Piero Lottini, both on Osella PA 9/90 BMW of 4th Group. With the category success, Massaglia mathematically won the Italian group title, repeating that of 2022 arrived right in Pesaro. Excellent race also for Lottini who made the most of the potential of the two-seater managed by Team Bonucci. In the initial stages of the first climb forced stop for Salvatore Riolo on 4th Grouping PCR, the Sicilian could keep the tricolor games open.

We needed the points from the Italian flag to secure the title, we couldn't strain the vehicle and for this reason the abandonment of Riolo paved the way for us" -.

The Lucanian from Valdelsa Classic is also increasingly comfortable on the Martini Mk32 Antonio Lavieri, who completed the further apprenticeship race with the demanding car in 2nd place among the single-seaters of the 5th Group and with the 4th overall time. Giuliano Peroni senior on the always brilliant Osella PA 8/9 BMW with the 5th overall time won the 3rd Grouping and closed a weekend of excellent satisfaction for the entire racing family in the best possible way. In full hypothetical top ten and author of the 6th race time Harald Mossler, the Austrian driver in love with Italian races, who won the 1st Grouping on the Daren MK3. Even in the category of the longest-lasting cars, the top duel was missing after the forced abandonment of the Champion 2023 Tiberio Nocentini for a fault under test. Satisfaction at home for Antonio Angiolani from Osimo who climbed onto the podium in the 5th Grouping at the wheel of the beautiful March 783 F3 Toyota. Ideal top ten of the race completed by the protagonists of the National Sport category within the 4th Grouping, with the Tuscan Massimiliano Boldrini back on the Lucchini Alfa Romeo in great shape, followed by the Sicilian Gaetano Palumbo, new Champion of 3rd Group, climbed for the occasion on the GiPi Cars of Kaa Racing with which he found immediate understanding and preceded the Milanese on the podium Alessandro Trentini who completed the work of winning the National Sports Trophy at the wheel of Lucchini, car that also won in 2022 with Riolo.
Excellent result for the Sicilian from Bologna Salvatore That, first among touring cars on the BMW M3 in GTP version of the 4th Group, just outside the top ten. Oscar Gadaldi from Valtellina raised the A+2000 class cup of the 4th Group on the brilliant Renault 5 GT Turbo.
Excellent performance from the South Tyrolean Erwin Morandell who finished 2nd of 3rd Grouping on the Fiat X1/9 and first of the cars covered, in front of Marco Gentili's twin. Just below the podium, full credit goes to the host Giacinto Giacchè always effective and spectacular on the Fiat 131 GTS class Abarth 2000.
In the 2nd group the Emilian Fosco Zambelli he once again showed his incisiveness at the wheel of the Alfa Romeo GTAM and dominated the category since the tests with decidedly aggressive and effective driving. Second on the podium was Giampiero Zampieri who took the Porsche911 Sc to the top of the GTS class 2500, then the Swiss from Calabria Lucio Gigliotti now already at ease on the Alfa GTAM, despite an accidental shutdown of the car near the finish line. For the 1st Grouping the podium was completed by touring cars with the tenacious Austrian Gregor Frotscher in the agile and agile Morris Mini Cooper of the T1300 class, who preceded the Lombard Luigi Capsoni who secured the GT1300 class Tricolore Cup on the always effective Alpine A110. Off the podium with the T1600 class record was the excellent Valter Canzian on the admired Ford Consul Cortina Lotus, followed by the Lombard Sergio Davoli in the Porsche 911 T secured the GT2000 class tricolor cup.
Great satisfaction for local administrations, the regional councilor Andrea Biancani and the municipal councilors Riccardo Pozzi and Mila Della Dora reiterated: “Culture and motors are identifying and strategic elements of our territory”. The representative of Unicef was also present, Beatrice Crinelli.
For this purpose they were donated 100 trees which will be planted in the San Bartolo park, initiative conceived in collaboration with the Forestry Corps and the municipal administration. The symbolic ceremony saw the positioning of a young tree on the slopes of the SP 44 Overview at the intersection with via Gattoni. Subsequently, the other seedlings will be planted in adequately identified spaces in agreement with the Municipality of Pesaro.
The Coppa Faro was not "just" an uphill classic car race to enhance the environment, but it was also an important social intervention. In practice, with the partnership of two associations it was possible “give” also a moment of enthusiasm and happiness for some "special kids" from Aias and Genia.
Some participants in the Parade welcomed a small number of kids on their cars for a ride along the route from Baia Flaminia to the Lighthouse, while others walked around the paddock among the cars, welcomed by the drivers who illustrated their cars.
