All the staff at work for the Italian Uphill Speed Championship race for Historic Cars and interesting collateral initiatives are also ready
The preparatory work continues apace 7° Faro Cup – Pesaro. The entire technical staff wants to be ready for a successful edition and exciting challenges on the Panoramiche which rises from the sea of Baia Flaminia to the lighthouse which gives its name to the race.
Worth noting is a collateral initiative that brings a breath of fresh air to the Pesaro motoring scene. Since last year the race has become "Luciano Battisti Memorial” to commemorate a figure who will remain in the hearts and memories of all motorcycling enthusiasts: he was among the founders of the Benelli historical register (of which he was honorary president) and also organizer of competitions: with Paolo Benelli and Goffredo Tempesta he had created the Villa Fastiggi event with the legendary duels between Agostini and Haylwood, then Ago and Saarinen. Entrepreneur and former pilot, well-known collector and great motor enthusiast, had been appointed President of Moto Club Tonino Benelli of Pesaro, for his constant and tireless commitment to enhancing the city's motoring culture and heritage. An authentic man, of great thickness, enlightened entrepreneur, historic MotoBi rider with an extraordinary passion for motorcycles that led him to cherish it further 200 specimens, in particular the racing Benellis. A private collection that sees both the Benelli's Pasolini e Saarinen fup to Yamaha 250 of Cadalora and to 500 from Lawson. Lots of racing bikes and just as many production bikes, I'm 216 pieces of great value: his dream was to create a place where it was possible to breathe in all the enthralling passion for motorcycles. Unfortunately he left us in March last year.
But thanks to the strength and determination of his family and in particular his wife Graziella and his nephew Enrico, it was finally possible to realize it. The museum is housed in a warehouse over 2.000 square meters a Villa Property, just outside Pesaro. Here in the new museum headquarters there are now the 216 historic motorcycles, many of which are unique pieces.
To those who asked Battisti the economic value of his collection, the answer was: “I don't know what it's worth and I don't even care. For me it's just an emotional issue. That Pesaro yesterday, especially through Benelli but also MotoBI and many other more or less well-known companies, he represented a culture, a school, he created values, professionalism and many of the people who passed through there went on to make the Pesaro of today, a piece of this Italy of ours". With the Battisti museum, the city of Pesaro, capital of culture 2024, has expanded its historical-cultural proposal of motorcycling, already strong in the splendid Officine Benelli museum in the site of the former Leone factory (born in 1911) in Viale Mameli, and other historic centers including the Morbidelli museum, the center of the brothers Enzo and Eugenio Lazzarini and others of value.
Battisti's private collection will be open to visitors on Friday 4 October from hours 17.00 by the pilots (and their companions) on the day of the checks of the 7th Coppa Faro Pesaro
